Vacation House in Trpanj Croatia - by Drazan Lapic

Dear Visitor,

I have a small, 2-bedroom house in Trpanj, Croatia. It is now fully renovated as an all-year round vacation property. I hope you don't mind me posting information about this beautiful spot on the Dalmatian Coast.

Perhaps you or someone you know might be interested in Trpanj as a travel destination. Please forward to your friends.

As I am starting this as a small enterprise, I have set an affordable rental fee and would like to reserve the home for friends to enjoy.

House and Trpanj Information:

·    My house is probably older than 500 years, as recorded in the oldest written document. It is located in downtown Trpanj, literally 50 yards from the ferry port, yet on a very private, quiet street. This street has essentially no vehicle or pedestrian traffic except for neighbors.

·    The first floor is an all purpose room, with entrance from the street, and a living/dining area and small kitchen in the corner. In the back are a rest room and the stairwell to the second floor. On the second floor are a bathroom and one bedroom. The stairwell continues up to the second bedroom. I have remodeled the interior and as I am writing this, the house is in the final stage of renovation, including all new kitchen and appliances, bathroom equipment and new beds. I am going to Trpanj after 5/25 for final touches and will send photos.

·    There is no TV or radio, but there is high speed and unlimited Internet connection included in your rental. Although there is no land line phone, there is a prepaid cell phone available for use. Phone cards are readily available at any nearby newspaper stand. As cell phone calls, especially to overseas, are very expensive in Europe, I recommend downloading Skype to your computer. I can walk you through the necessary steps to make calls for free.

·    The town is peaceful and people are very friendly. Most of the locals are my personal friends and knew my father and mother, town legends, about whom there are many wonderful stories and anecdotes.

·    All supply stores, including a bank, post office, health care station and pharmacy are within 500 yards.

·    The Town beach and the Fisherman's beach are about 200 yards from the house. Along the bank are many small cafes and restaurants. Two that I highly recommend are Trpanj and Konoba Dubrovnik, some 250 yards away in the Main Street and across from each other. I don’t have to tell you about the rivalry among the two, but you will note I designed a web page for both of them. Neither wanted a web page until I told them that the other was going to have it…

·    Fall and winters are very mild, with swimming May through early October. November through April are perfect for relaxation, long walks, hikes and quiet time.

·    Car rentals are recommended for sightseeing and exploring the area. There is a great deal to see and enjoy.

Getting There:

·    The first destination is Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, where you would take a bus to Ploce, and from there a ferry to Trpanj.

·    Alternatively, you might fly to Dubrovnik, arriving at 3PM from JFK. In this scenario, I recommend spending 3-4 hours sightseeing before departing for Trpanj. I would arrange pick up by van, with anticipated arrival by 9 PM in Trpanj. Van fare is $250 one way or $450 if booked round trip in advance.

·    Round trip airfare from JFK (NYC) to Dubrovnik is approximately $1,400 (1 stop, tax and fees included)

Rental Fees:

Per Day: $150 (tax included) for rentals less than 2 weeks

2-Week Rental Fees Based on 14 Nights Stay:

·         Arrival 06/15 – Departure 06/30 (14 nights) $1,800 (low season)

·         Arrival 07/01 – Departure 07/16 (14 nights) $2,000 (full season)

·         Arrival 07/17 – Departure 08/01 (14 nights) $2,000 (full season)

·         Arrival 08/02 – Departure 08/17 (14 nights) $2,000 (full season)

·         Arrival 08/18 – Departure 09/02 (14 nights) $2,000 (full season)

·         Arrival 09/03 – Departure 09/18 (14 nights) $1,800 (low season)

·         Arrival 09/19 – Departure 10/04 (14 nights) $1,600 (low season)

·         Arrival after 10/05 – $100/day for stay less than 2 weeks, or a flat fee of $1,000 for 14 nights

·         All dates after 10/05 to end of November there would be $100 rent a day for stay less than 2 weeks or a flat fee of $1,000 for 14 nights stay

Payment and Reservation Information:

·         I accept credit card payments and would accommodate payment plans up to 4 months

·         Reservations via email ($500 reservation deposit)

·         Cancellations/Returns: 15 or more days advance notice for full refund; 14 days or less notice, no refund but a credit to select another date
